Meteorologist
The ART of Weather
Expert Witness
“Some people are weatherwise, most are otherwise”
- Benjamin Franklin
Greetings. I earned my degree in meteorology with honors from Lyndon State College in Vermont. For 30 years, I was a broadcast television meteorologist. I am now retired from broadcasting, but I continue to be involved in my lifelong career in meteorology. Today, I am Professor of Meteorology at Connecticut State Tunxis in Farmington. In addition, for 25 years, I have provided forensic meteorology services to lawyers and insurance company adjusters. After my television career, I found I wanted to continue with the investigative aspect of Meteorology. As a result, I became more involved in forensic meteorology. Since then, I have prepared around 600 weather reports. I have also gained considerable experience with depositions and testifying in court.
When you need an expert weather report for a weather-related injury or other weather-related matter, I recreate past weather conditions relevant to your case using all available historical weather data from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). I always endeavor to find the best data closest to the location of interest at a similar elevation.
Billable time … My hourly rate when researching data and writing a report is $350. Drive time to a deposition, court testimony or onsite investigation is billed at a rate of $150 per hour. Preparation time for a deposition or court testimony is billed at $450 per hour. Time in deposition is $700 per hour. Time testifying in court is billed at $1,000 per hour. I have a one-hour minimum for researching, depositions, and court time. Court time is billed for time spent in the courthouse. A report for an insurance-related case requires a $1,500 retainer for work to begin.
I love what I do and look forward to working with you!
